Online Community of Practice for UDL Implementors

Name: Christopher R. Bugaj
School: Loudoun County Public Schools
Role: Assistive Technology Trainer
Description: This short video defines the three pillars of UDL in a fun and engaging way. Using multiple modalities the video hopes to provide a succinct introduction to any person learning about the concept. Also, the video is 1 of a 5 videos on a DVD used for professional development within our school district. Captions are not included in this version due to technical restraints (the video is not currently loaded to YouTube) but a script is available. Viewers of the DVD (not this online version) have the option to turn captions on or off.

Thank you for this great tutorial Christopher. Suggestion: rather than on YouTube, whose so-called Creative Commons option is strongly unsatisfactory, you could upload the 5 videos on Blip.tv or on the Internet Archive, which offer proper Creative Commons licensing.

Then you could start social subtitling pages for them, giving already the English captions as a base for translations into other languages, e.g. on DotSUB or Universal Subtitles.

Should you do so, you would be able to download the subtitles in other languages and re-use them on your DVD, for an international version.

Just an idea.

Claude
