Hi. Welcome to my UDL Connect blog. In this space I will be sharing ideas and applications related to the implementation of UDL. My first entry will feature some prior work that helped support the generation and sharing of case stories. I hope you will join me in sharing your own work as we figure out what UDL looks like in practice and what it means for learners.

Prior to my UDL Fellowship award, I was the Director of Outcomes and Evaluation at VSA | Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. My work at VSA focused on building evaluation capacity to gather, use, and share valuable knowledge about inclusive arts teaching and learning, particularly using the framework of UDL.
Contours of Inclusion: Inclusive Arts Teaching and Learning. (VSA 2010: ERIC- ED522677). The purpose of this publication is to share models and case examples of the process of inclusive arts curriculum design and evaluation.
This diagram shows how curriculum documentation from a Curriculum Map, UDL Checklist, and annotated student work can be used to generate educative case narratives or educationally interpretive arts exhibitions.

During the work of the professional learning communities, teaching artists documented and shared their work at the design, implementation, and evaluation phases to get feedback from their coach and peers. We did this online using a shared online space and tele-conferencing. As the chart shows, we used a few design tools to evaluate our design and guide our information processing including the UDL Educator Checklist.
Each teaching artist was then encouraged to present online summative cases about their curriculum using a WYSIWYG html editor in the online space and then make it public for sharing.
We then selected a few of the teaching artists for this publication to work with a staff person to co-write a more narrative case study using a case study rubric from Stanford University. These cases were shared more widely as precedent cases that have then be used as case examples in further professional learning.
