I have started a discussion and I have posted a 'google' doc site where you can see an amazing document developed by Donna Klockars. She systematically gathered resources that could integrate curriculum at multiple levels. I hope you will have a chance to read some of the documents and I have invited her to write about her work. I hope she will join in. Feel free to ask her some questions!
UDL and One Well?
Engagement! Students have many choices of text and access at many levels to engage with the topics. Water is important to everyone!
Expression! Students could show their learning by making a change in their families, schools or communities! see us in the local news video Multiple means of expression
Representation! have a look at the beautiful resources gathered by Donna - RICH and multi-leveled! I added digital resources from Accessible Resources and we used strategies like graphic organizers, small group discussions, Jig Saws with expert groups, peer and self assessment, the 6 big ideas for AFL and we had students who had never achieved grade level work complete above grade level work!
Terri Mack, Consultant at Core Learning Resources, Donna and I presented at FNEC in Montreal together in March! We have all been working together for years. This is where the Inquiry idea and the 21st Century Learning Environments started! Donna and Terri gathering resources as District Leaders and then building a team of teachers (Mary-Lynn Epps, Lynn Brown, and myself to implement this Inquiry.
Terri can help with the acquisition of the materials for the One Well, One Earth Inquiry Unit. We call them Bins of Books. She also has the professional resources to accompany the resources.
See you at the discussion with Donna
