We are going to do a unit on "Who I am as a Learner?" and now we have an opportunity to include ipods. I thought it would be powerful to ask students to 'mindmap' how they learn best. Ask them which tools and processes support their learning (we will do this as a staff team also) and then spend 6 weeks with the ipods and then overlay the technology piece onto their first mindmap.

Just heard this term PLN. Do you use it commonly? We are looking at Personalized Learning for the 21st century learner and I love this term that includes network as it adds that all important part of learning - socializing! We need to belong to a network, a community of learners, a team.

How widespread is the use of this term PLN in your area? How do like PLLN?

From Dylan Wiliam's work and our work in the NPBS (Network for Performance Based Schools), we incorporate the  six big assessment for learning (AFL) strategies:

• learning intentions,
• criteria,
• peer and self assessment,
• descriptive feedback,
• questioning and
• ownership.

It is also one of the wings of The Propeller Model.
