Your upcoming workshop got a shout out today from Joy Pennington at the Arkansas Arts Council. The arts education advisory group was really interested in learning more about it! I shouted back with some great things you have worked on. Good luck with the workshop! Let me know how it goes!
Super fantastic about your workshop in Little Rock! Congrats! Are you working with the staff at the Arkansas Arts Council at all? Let me know if I can connect you with the arts education manager or the executive director (who sits on our arts education advisory group at nasaa) to spread the word. I was in Little Rock back in October and loved it. Chenal Elementary School has a strong residency and arts integration program/partnership with Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts. If you have a chance to look it up- http://www.wildwoodpark.org/education/
This week, I would like to feature the blog postings of my friend and colleague Richard Jenkins. Building on the reflective work featured in the VSA publication Contours of Inclusion, Richard shares his story of inclusive arts teaching and learning with his teaching artist colleagues using the blog of the Teaching Artist Journal.
Yes, thank you. It's great to be able to share UDL in an arts setting examples with our TAs. It just so happened that on Thursday I was on this site and noticed Patti Ralabate (CAST Dir of Implementation) was offering a UDL workshop/keynote here on Friday through Education Minnesota so I took the opportunity to listen -- very interesting. It may not be required to document and structure our residencies with UDL for VSA funding this fiscal year however we are still planning to incorporate the frameworks into some of our PD offerings (if funded). The funding cuts hit us pretty hard but we are continuing to search/apply for alternative grants and continue to do some work in schools. How about you?
Welcome to UDL Connect, Richard! We hope you find the discussions interesting and informative. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to make this community more supportive of your work in UDL
