Help seeking behavior is rare for learners who would benefit the most from it.  Yet learners will persist, seek help and even go out of the way to search out 'cheat codes' for games.  Engagement, yes.  But you have also mentioned the behavior triggered popup help in WOW that came just in time to prevent you from giving up.  I think we need to think more about this in relation to raising the level of help-seeking behavior.
