I've done a lot of work in performance-based teaching methods for Shakespeare, and I've seen how they lower barriers for entry with kids and address executive function.    There are some excellent sequences of activities that start with words, go to phrases, an lead to scenes.  Kids trying on multiple roles, engaging their body, waiting for cues, and using their working memory.  Kids can  fun with the language is successful ways.  Here's a good starting point for resources on it.

Also, Adele Diamond has a good video on using dramatic play to teach executive function.

Also, here's a video on using technology, Shakespeare, and drama.  It didn't overtly target EF, but it's does adress it.
